AIA continuous cast iron bar for machining into gears
The machinability of continuous cast iron bars makes it an ideal material for machining into gears and other precision parts. The low frictional characteristics of cast iron make it an excellent material for repeated-use applications. However, not all cast iron is made equal. Continuous cast iron offers significant metallurgical advantages over other cast iron products.
The advantages stem from its superior continuous-casting process, which leaves it stronger than sand- or ingot-cast iron. Continuous cast iron is more metallically uniform, cost-effective to the machine, and more durable than competing cast iron products.
Cast iron grades:
- CC-2 Class 40 gray cast iron
- CC-3 65-45-12 ASTM A536 ductile iron
- CC-4 80-55-06 ASTM A536 SG ductile iron
