Why continuous cast iron?
Our continuous cast iron bars' unique composition makes them an attractive alternative to traditional metals like aluminum, bronze, steel, and brass. Graphite’s microstructure helps retain oil and keep parts lubricated for longer. It also functions as a built-in chip breaker, allowing it to be milled and finished much faster than other metals.
Our continuous cast iron is even partially self-lubricating, limiting the change of tool damage should there be oil loss.
New tooling and coolant technologies allow our cont. cast bar to machine at rates equal to or better than many metals today. The CC-4 grade features a tensile strength of 80,000 psi. This grade can be heat-treated to reach 100,000 psi.
